The
accomplishments of staff with Not-for-Profits are greatly
multiplied thanks to their adjunct staff: Volunteers. The
dedication, time and energies given freely and enthusiastically
by a cadre of volunteers are among the valuable external resources
available to charities in the USA.
Volunteer
time helps fill in many voids that could not be covered by staff
but is also paramount in assisting with bringing in financial
resources through events, solicitation and finding other supporters
for the mission. Staff and volunteers at all levels should prepare
to become more effective friend raisers and fundraiser's for
their organization. Barbara B. Rose, president of New Generation
Partnerships, Inc, has been a professional fund raiser and development
officer for more than 20 years. Since she has spent more than
20 years as an active community volunteer, she understands the
challenges of both parts of the team. As co-author of Dollars
for Dreams: Student Affairs Staff as Fundraiser's, workshop
leader and conference presenter on a wide range of related topics,
she has shared experiences and expertise with people who are
ready to take the bold step to expand and enhance what is already
in place.
Ms.
Rose has developed workshops customized for specific organizations.
